“While the Reif farm is always benefiting from the warm moderating breezes from the Niagara River, the exceptionally warm, dry and sunny September, which continued through October and November, provided ideal conditions for ripening. This harvest, and the quality of fruit, was the inspiration for this special edition of my Cabernet Sauvignon which combines my passion for wine and cars! Appropriately named ‘Torque’, this robust and complex wine shows the power of my favorite grape and what is possible to be grown in the Niagara River sub-appellation which is mapped as one of the warmest in Ontario. The vineyard was cropped to two tons per acre to intensify flavours and as the vines are also some of the oldest in Canada, this wine showcases the terroir of our vineyard. This wine is deep scarlet in colour with bold flavours of leather, burnt rubber, petrol that will REV you up! The complexity of this wine is almost infinite with layers of oak, cedar, butter, vanilla, chocolate, tobacco, blackberry, sour cherry and plum. This wine says Tomahawk steak with wild mushrooms and fresh ground pepper.”
