2015 came in with some unusually and at times brutally cold weather. By April/May the weather normalized and June gave us plenty of rain. The growing season gave us hope with sunny warm weather which ran into harvest time. This allowed us to get good maturation of fruit and the silver lining of the cold winter, less fruit, which meant higher quality.
Beautiful ripe clean fruit was pressed and allowed to ferment on the skins for 14 days. The wine was pressed and allowed to undergo 100% malolactic. Aging was done in 2 year old French barriques, adding soft tannins on the finish while maintaining fruitiness.
A fine example displaying bright red fruit moving from raspberry, cherries to plums and cassis. Hints of dark chocolate, red currants, licorice and cedar brings this medium bodied wine to the forefront. Would pair well with game, veal, grilled eggplant and Portobello mushrooms.
